Organic fertilisers: common questions

What are Gro Worm organic fertilisers made from?

All of our organic fertilisers are made from 100% pure, sustainably sourced worm casts. That gives you nitrogen, phosphates and potash together with billions of beneficial microbes and micronutrients, in a gentle, slow-release form that feeds roots steadily rather than in one hit. The whole range is OF&G certified organic and completely chemical-free.

Should I use granules or liquid feed?

Both are pure worm casts, they just suit different jobs. Granules are ideal for feeding at planting time and for a slow-release background feed you fork into the soil or compost. Liquid feed acts more quickly and is easy to apply through a watering can during active growth. Many gardeners use granules as the base feed and top up with liquid through the season, and you can even brew the granules into a liquid feed yourself.

How much granular fertiliser should I use?

As a rough guide, use 1 handful (80ml) per 10 to 20cm pot, 2 handfuls (160ml) per square metre for established beds, or 1 handful in each planting hole. Sprinkle it around the plant, gently fork it in, and water well. Repeat roughly every 4 weeks through the growing season.

How do you use the liquid feed?

Add 2 caps (20ml) to a 4.5 litre watering can, or 1 cap for delicate plants and seedlings, then water as normal. Feed every 2 to 3 weeks during the growing season. You can also make a liquid feed from the granules by brewing 1 handful in 4.5 litres of water for 24 hours.

Will it scorch or burn my plants?

No. Because the feed is made from worm casts and releases its nutrients slowly, it will not scorch or burn plants, seeds or roots the way concentrated synthetic fertilisers can. That makes it safe to use generously and ideal around young plants and seedlings, as well as on anything you are growing to eat.

What makes Gro Worm organic fertiliser different?

It is 100% pure worm casts rather than synthetic chemistry, so it feeds the plant and improves the soil at the same time, building structure, water retention and living biology. It is OF&G certified organic, chemical-free and concentrated, so a little goes a long way, which makes it as sustainable as it is effective.
